Nilda Rosa Rodriguez, CDA - Tolebrush
Nilda has been painting since 1988. Ever since she can remember
she enjoyed drawing faces and coloring books. A set of new crayons
or an art set was her favorite gift.
She was introduced to Tole Painting by her friend Lori Smith when they were stationed in Columbus, Georgia. Lori asked Nilda if she could accompany her to take Tole Painting classes. Once Nilda saw what it was all about she was hooked. She even bought some books before taking the first class.
Nilda painted solely in acrylics for several years until she had
the courage to try oils on her own. Aided by videotapes published
by Jeanne Downing, Gretchen Cagle and Aileen Bratton she started
learning this medium. Captivated by the elegance of oils she continued
her studies with the help of Marian Jackson and
Peggy Stogdill.
Since then, she has been taking seminars in both oils and acrylics
with excellent teachers such as Cheri Rol, Deanne Fortnam and Brenda
Stewart.
Nilda passed her Certification in the still life category at the Tampa convention in 2005.
